Danube Day 13 - Journey home

Susan:
We started the day at 6:00 a.m. with a shower, knowing we wouldn’t get another one for quite a while. We had our breakfast buffet and then did our final packing. After bringing our bags down to the lobby, we took a 30-minute walk around the area near the hotel.

James: There was a nice walking and biking trail next to an Allianz campus just down the street from our hotel. The campus was enormous and encompassed several steel and glass buildings. They also incorporated green building elements into the structure. There were vines that grew up and around a parking ramp and part of one of the buildings. I hadn’t realized that Allianz, which also has an office in Minneapolis, is part of the Allianz Group, headquartered here in Munich, Germany.

Susan: Road Scholar arranged for a large cab for 8 of us to get to the airport. The car was full of luggage, and the driver was probably going 100 mph. We made our way through the airport to find our check-in, and all went fairly well. We said goodbye to Gig and Brenda, who were flying United. We were on the same plane as MaryBeth and Julia, who were destined for Boston.

Customs in Canada was pretty easy, and that’s ultimately where we cleared to enter the U.S. We sat and ate a late lunch with MaryBeth and Julia and then said our goodbyes. Nicola was supposed to pick us up but was sick, so Katie came instead, and we all piled into her Bronco. We got home and pretty quickly went to bed.
