Today Jim and I were totally on our own. Nicola had school today so we spent the day walking around the city. We planned to visit the Rose Walk which I saw last week with the girls.
We ventured down to that area (about 3.5 miles) only to discover that it was closed! As are many museums. Oh well, it was still beautiful weather and we could see lots of interesting sites along the way. We were amazed how many dogs there are here, especially since the majority of the people live in apartments. You can see from these photos that some people make a living taking care of the resident dog population.
It's important to watch where you are walking so you don't step in dog doo-doo!
We also went into a larger supermarket on the way back to our apartment. I wish we had discovered this store earlier in our stay. It had all the items you would need plus it was two levels and had moving walk ways to take you and your grocery cart up and down the two flights.
his was our favorite panaderia (bakery.) We visited it at least once a day while we were here. It not only had sweets but also empanadas which we heated up in the toaster oven in our apartment.
For dinner we just walked around the neighborhood and found a local corner cafe. They all look so quaint. This one had some sandwich specials and a lovely Malbec. It was a very large glass of wine for only $3! We each had two ;)
